Founded on Personal Experience

Lucy Bolt and Jo Bennett own and run The Service Tree as a hands-on management team who have a close working relationship with all clients and their families or representatives. We have personal experience of trying to find the right care for loved ones with dementia and with motor neurone disease. We couldn’t find what we were looking for, we struggled to just get advice about care let alone get care in place that our mother and grandmother were happy with. All we wanted was a good standard of care from carers who understood their illnesses and who they could trust and relate to. In the end we decided to take matters into our own hands.

lucy and joThis personal experience means we have a profound empathy with those needing care and the families and friends trying to support them.

The Service Tree Team

As The Service Tree grew and we started to look for staff, we knew we needed a team as committed to quality care and companionship as we are.

We are as committed to improving conditions for professional carers as we are to improving the quality of care provision. As a result of investing in our team, stringent recruitment processes and with many of the team coming to us through personal recommendations, we have an exceptionally low level of staff turnover which means our staff know our values, ethos and service-users well. It has become something of a cliché to say that happy staff equals happy customers, but when it comes to care provision this is absolutely the case.

Small enough to care, big enough to cope

As The Service Tree has grown, these underlying principles have remained with us. We still make sure we know every service-user and their families or representatives personally and we are very proud of our high-performing team who are great carers and great company.

Our mission is all about making life easier so if you’re not sure if we provide the service you are looking for just ask… the answer is usually “yes”.

Community, Charity and Campaigning

We regularly volunteer and fundraise for the Alzheimer’s Society including volunteering at our local memory cafe and completing the annual sponsored Memory Walk in memory of the many wonderful people living with dementia that we have had the privilege to know.

Jo is the treasurer of the National Albinism Fellowship. Lucy is an Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friends champion and delivers Dementia Friends information sessions in West Bridgford and the surrounding area. Lucy and Jo are also licensed presenters of the Contented Dementia Trust SPECAL® method and highly recommend Contented Dementia by Oliver James to anyone living with or caring for someone with dementia.

We are passionate campaigners for improvements in standards of care, particularly care for those with dementia. We believe that the key driver of standards of care is how we as a society value care and those that deliver it. Working conditions for professional carers are notoriously poor with minimum wage pay and zero hour contracts sadly the norm. At The Service Tree we are committed to paying our fantastic care team a proper living wage and providing the employment contracts and rights that every worker in this country should expect.

We are committed to increasing dementia awareness and busting the myth that you can’t live well with dementia. If you are interested in a dementia information session for your community group or family, please contact Lucy or Jo on 0115 945 5639 or use this form to contact us.
