The Service Tree Day Socials

Day care with a difference

The Service Tree Day Socials are held every Tuesday at the Holy Spirit Church Social Centre, Victoria Road, West Bridgford and every Wednesday at Tollerton Methodist Church Hall. The goal of the Day Socials is to provide companionship, interest and entertainment to older adults. The Day Socials are particularly designed to be beneficial to those with dementia and those that would benefit from greater social interaction.

Day Social Schedule

Our socials always follow the same framework schedule as detailed below. This familiarity is important to our service-users and ensures a smooth-running day where we can all concentrate on the important job of having a good time.

10am                 Arrival. Morning coffee including toast and biscuits. Activities including fully supported crafts, games including cards, dominoes, golf-putting and table tennis plus quizzes, daily papers and occasional visiting presenters.

12pm                   Lunch. A cooked lunch of traditional favourites such as shepherd’s pie, roast dinner, freshly made pies and quiches all served with a selection of fresh seasonal veg. Our lunches are provided by local caterers “Fresh Things”. Dessert and tea/coffee.

1.30pm                Main session entertainment – entertainment is always provided by professional entertainers including the Radcliffe Sing-a-longs, singers Velvet Divine, The Right Time, Big Griff and Irene Starkie, illusionist David Fox, the mobile mini-zoo and many more. More often than not we enjoy an afternoon of singing and dancing and there is always plenty of fun and laughter.

2.30-3pm             Afternoon Tea. A selection of sandwiches and cakes.

3-3.15pm             Close

Transport service to and from our socials can be arranged throughout Nottingham and Rushcliffe at a small additional cost.

Arrangements can be made flexibly around the needs of service-users, for example it is possible to attend for part of the day for just one or two sessions or for family members or carers to attend either temporarily to assist a service-user to “settle in” or permanently to enjoy a supported social day together. Should you have any special requirements please ask.
